our History in brief


Childers Construction Company was formed in 1964 when William E. Childers became a General Contractor in Tallahassee, Florida. He operated as a sole proprietorship until his incorporation in 1980 as Bill Childers, Inc. D/B/A Childers Construction Company, Inc. In 1994, Bill Childers retired and the company’s structure changed. At that time, Van Champion, Jr. and Sam Childers (son of Bill) joined forces and provided General Contracting and Construction Management services to their clientele.

Since its inception, the company has provided many additional types of construction services ranging from Competitive Lump Sum, Negotiated Cost Plus and Cost Plus with Guaranteed Maximum Price.

Over time, Childers has completed projects in Leon County, including the greater Tallahassee area, Gadsden, Taylor, Franklin, Walton, Bay, Wakulla, Madison, Washington, and Jefferson counties in Florida, as well as in Bainbridge and Thomasville, Georgia
